WorldCrown48 ("WC48", "we", "the Service") uses cookies and similar technologies to improve the user experience and operate the Service. This policy explains which cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can change your preferences at any time.

This policy is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and Korean data protection laws (PIPA and the Network Act).

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser when you visit. Cookies identify your device, keep you signed in, and help us understand how the Service is used.

We use two kinds of cookies:

• Session cookies — automatically deleted when you close your browser.
• Persistent cookies — kept on your device for a set retention period.

We also use a mix of first-party cookies (set by WC48 directly) and a limited set of third-party cookies (set by external services like analytics and CDN providers).

WC48 organizes cookies into four categories. All categories except Essential can be turned on or off at any time.

ESSENTIAL (required, cannot be changed)

Cookies that are necessary for the Service to operate. Without these cookies, login, security, and language preferences will not work. These are not subject to consent under GDPR.

FUNCTIONAL (default ON)

Cookies for convenience features and personalization. The Service still works if you turn these off, but some features (recently viewed Tournaments, Fan nickname autofill) will reset every visit.

ANALYTICS (default ON)

Anonymous aggregation of which Tournaments are popular and where fans drop off. No personally identifying information is stored, and IP addresses are hashed.

If you turn off Analytics cookies, WC48 does not collect your behavioral data.

MARKETING (default OFF)

Used to recommend related Tournaments and partner content based on your preferred categories (football, K-pop, etc.). Turning these off does not remove ads — it only makes them less relevant.

⚠️ MVP 1 notice: WC48 has not yet integrated any external ad networks. This category is published in advance so the consent framework is in place. Before any marketing cookies are actually deployed, we will notify users and re-request consent.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time:

1. Click "Reopen cookie preferences" at the bottom of any page.
2. Toggle the categories on or off in the consent modal.
3. Click "Save" — your changes apply immediately and are valid for 12 months.

Consent records are stored securely on Google Firebase, including the timestamp, hashed IP, and the consent details (for legal record-keeping).

You can also block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking Essential cookies may prevent the Service from working correctly.

• Consent validity: 12 months
• After 12 months, we ask for your consent again
• Cookies in a withdrawn category are deleted immediately

Cookies set by these providers follow their own policies.

WC48 is not directed at users under 14 years of age. If we learn that a user under 14 has signed up, we will delete the account and related cookie data immediately. See the Privacy Policy for details.

This Cookie Policy may be updated due to legal changes, service updates, or new third-party tools. We will notify users of significant changes through:

• In-service announcements
• A re-prompt of the consent modal
• Email to the address used at sign-up (for material changes)
